Everything in the military is very strict, including military-grade PCBA. The manufacturing requirements are also very strict, and various standard certifications need to be strictly adhered to.

7 Requirements for Military-Grade PCBA

1. Applications of military-grade PCBA include satellite subsystems, defense navigation and communications, computers, robots, artillery, unmanned driving, security systems, etc. All components should therefore be of high quality and absolutely durable when manufactured. Requirements also include: 1. More than 5% higher performance than commercial-grade electronic PCB; 2. PCBA life needs to be extended by more than 10 years; 3. Able to adapt to extreme environments; 4. Absolute reliability and stronger.

2. All PCBs for military-grade electronic products need to comply with MIL standards. Precautions include: 1. There should be a clear difference between low-frequency and high-frequency components; 2. The signal is pure; 3. In order to allow better current transmission, all PCB wiring should maintain a 45° angle; 4. Strictly follow MIL- Manufactured to PRF-50884, MIL-PRF-55110 and MIL-PRF-31032 standards.

3. Because it is different from ordinary commercial products, heat-resistant and high-quality materials need to be used. Military PCBAs often work in harsh environments, and materials that meet these conditions need to be more durable. Military PCBA usually uses aluminum, copper, and high-temperature laminates.

4. Military PCBA has strict requirements for surface treatment to protect the PCB from dust, water, acid, vibration, etc.

5. The installation of military PCBA also requires caution, and through-hole installation is usually used. Because the PCBA installed through holes is more sturdy and durable, although the efficiency is lower, it can ensure high quality.

6. Testing is necessary to confirm the qualification rate of military PCBA. It needs to meet the MIL-STD-202 standard. In addition, x-ray testing and functional testing are required.

7. Military PCBA standards: 1. MIL-STD standard is a standard for production process, materials and safety; 2. ITAR standard focuses on military equipment; 3. Nadcap is a certification for aerospace.

In the certification, products produced to MIL-STD standards will be exported according to ITAR rules, while Nadcap serves as a standard in processes such as coating.
